Back me

I’ll start this preview by saying the forecast looks almost perfect between now (Sunday) and Thursday, so I’m thinking and hoping this track can dry out soon. 3 Alpine edge (Bet now: $2.15) looks ready to rock and roll. Market said he had three legs when he raced in the King Of The Mountain at Toowoomba, but despite that he still found the line and was very good at the beat when second to Yellow Brick. Third after the break so should be in top form, trained on the track and should be strong late. Hard to beat.

Danger

1 Ef Vojsko (Bet now: $4.40) is one of the main contenders. He ran at Falvelon a few weeks ago where he was on the pace throughout and kicked hard when asked but had no answer in the final produced by dry track horse King Of Sparta. The end of the road is a question with him, but after looking gone, he turned his career around. Leading bidder.

Long shot

2 The Wisdom of Water (Bet now: $12.00) was blessed with a run to win this race last year…does it go this time? I say no, but he has the runs on board to shake it up if he brings his best. He raced four weeks back to Randwick, where he was chasing from a decent place, and couldn’t make it late for I Am Me, where they broke the clock. Not sure if I could back him to win but one for multiples.

Race 2. (14:55) Magic Millions Subzero 2200m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

1 Sky Lab (Bet now: $4.80) is working to win Paul Perry. All the runs this time were great, the last one was the Summer Cup, where he was one of the few who was unlucky on the straights and could easily say he was winning with clean air instead of winning. Diamil. He’s got the 2000m under his belt now, so that should hold him.

Danger

4 Bigboyroy (Bet now: $6.50) won at this meeting last year and it is interesting that he walks up to 2200m. He ran in the Shoot Out two weeks ago at Doomben and I thought he should have been close to winning and he held on badly at the wrong time when J Mac wanted to rev up. I think 2200m will be fine and with clean air from the start I think he is good enough to handle it.

Long shot

7 Outlands (Bet now: $27.00). He ran at Randwick last time and on paper it was just a run but I thought he found the line between the runners nicely. He was down for a run last Saturday but the fact that he was scratched gives me the train of thought that the stable thinks he is ready to go and doesn’t need another run.

Race 3. (15:37) Magic Millions 2YO Classic 1200m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

16 Empress of Miracles… (Bet now: $13.00) the less said about the last start run, the better. She should have won last time at Eagle Farm but spotted those in front with an almost impossible start and given the way the track played out, her defeat was absolutely huge. She is certainly a quality filly and through the tricky gate you can see her getting three/four wide cover and a late start.

Danger

Team Snowden are elite Grand Final coaches that I respect 4 The Japanese Empire (Bet now: $4.80). He continued three weeks ago at Randwick where he sat in a slow running race and was good late on but fitness just gave way when he was third behind Fire Lane. This was clearly a preparation ride and J Mac had a good lead to choose from for this race, but he stays with this colt. He will be strong late.

Long shot

3 Solar source (Bet now: $21.00) is a foal I don’t plant. The electric premiere will win the Ballarat Magic Millions before being released. He went to Doomben where they found J Mac, but he looked around Doomben drunk and was well behind the Sovereign Fund winner. After a debut win, he will love a real run at 1200m and that effort could see him measure up here.

Race 4. (16:15) Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 1425m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

Yeh, I think 1 Tijuana (Bet now: $11.00) is a big prize here. Son of American Pharoah, who continues on Team Hayes. He hasn’t raced since the Carbine Club, where he showed off the tail end of the prep run, but was far from shy of Perfect Thought, a nice-looking youngster on the rise. In the spring he ran super behind quality animals and his test was a nice job. He has the runs on board to shake it up.

Danger

4 Yellow brick (Bet now: $3.90) is a Sears three-year-old who has current runs on the board given that he followed up with an excellent win in the King Of The Mountain at Toowoomba where he got off the pace nicely and battled for the win. That was 1200m and he is a horse that is much more suitable than further on, so he has to rate high here.

Long shot

12 Walk (Bet now: $16.00) looks set to work really well. The O’Dea/Hoysted trained filly went on to win the Mode Plate two back before she had a month off to race Vo Rogue where she tried her luck but couldn’t get behind Fashion Legend. He has a much better setup this time and I think the gate will be fine. Despite the rise in class, he is certainly in the mix.

Race 5 (3pm) Magic Millions F&M 1300m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

Chris Waller likes to target this race with a high quality mare and the high quality mare he has here is 1 Kiku (Bet now: $3.80). Market wanted her with confidence in Nudgee two weeks ago and she was there to win when J Mac introduced her but her condition just gave way late on. It was a race for her and with a class lead, a clear class lead, she is clearly the one to beat running under the belt.

Danger

Back to the trip I like 5 Me Me Lagarde (Bet now: $8.50). She ran over 1400m in The Gateway last time at Eagle Farm and for me the 1400m just found her where she was, beaten just under three lengths. She tends to save her best for the home deck and is a mare to pet to finish late. The top rider is J Collett and he is on board.

Long shot

4 diamonds (Bet now: $13.00) is a Chris Bieg-trained mare who is absolutely flying at the moment and deserves a crack at this type of race. She won twice on the bounce, won two feature sprint races during the Adelaide Summer Carnival and was impressive each time. A hard to knock in form mare, she will be strong late and has tough conditioning.

Race 6. (17:30) Magic Millions Snippets 1200m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

1 King of Sparta (Bet now: $1.85) is a gun dry tracker and won the Guineas last year and is clearly the one to beat after an excellent first win. Market said he had three legs when he went on to Falvelon but the track remained on the firm side, he sat up, gave them a start and gave them a beating with an impressive comeback. This time he will get similar conditions, I am quite looking forward to his prospects.

Danger

3 Shooting for gold (Bet now: $7.50) is third after the break and should be in top form. A match in second place before going to Falvelon where he wanted to win but couldn’t get there when he was just fifth behind King Of Sparta. M Zahra na is a good intention and maps to make the beauty run in transit. If the 1200 m is fine, which I think it will be, it will be hard to beat him.

Long shot

2 Hard empire (Bet now: $16.00) is a Team Edmonds trained gelding that continues. He had a prolific winter/spring preparation, headlined by a surprise win in the Missile Stakes at Randwick. He is a horse that can fly absolutely fresh and has won both trials to prepare. Maps for A1 to run in transit and is a chance for elimination if the favorite leaves the game.

Race 7. (18:05) The Syndicate 1200m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

2 Scallopini (Bet now: $2.45) is a noted fresh horse and by all reports is flying. He is eight years old but still a very good horse to return to the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. This guy finished his last preparation on a high when he won over 1400m at Flemington in the spring. He went well in the trial at the end of last month and according to all reports last Tuesday he went like a rocket in the jump, so for me he is ready to go.

Danger

1 Eleven eleven… (Bet now: $4.00) is he doing well? His recent form has been clear but he seems to be flying on this day and Greg Hickman has kept him on ice with this race day in mind. His last ride came in early December in the Razor Sharp, where he returned to the running and was late enough to not threaten the speed demon Sky Command. Tick over trial was good and respectable given his records.

Long shot

3 ranges (Bet now: $9.00) looks poised to move up from the spell to third. Broad and worked fresh in Razor Sharp in forgiveness for Sky Command. Then he went to the Canterbury Sprint and I thought I was working at home with real purpose late in the stretch behind the flying mare, I Am Me. He tends to improve over the course of the build-up and will be strong late here. A definite chance to win.

Race 8. (18:40) Magic Millions Cup 1425m

*The above offers may only be available to selected customers.

Back me

2 The Emerald Kingdom (Bet now: $7.50) is a ripper for Desleigh Forster and I think it has to be the way to go. He ran in The Buffering two weeks ago where he led throughout and was strong to the finish, winning clearly, winning impressively and keeping his rivals safely at bay. There is more depth to this race but he should get up to speed again, hard and will run.

Danger

3 Holyfield (Bet now: $7.50) is racing well and should be around the mark for Annabel Neasham. A strong winner at first and placed at his next two, last being Lough Neagh where he had a chance but ran well but was no match for Ucalito who gave them a beating. He thinks he fits here better than the Eagle Farm, and is sure to be in with a shriek at a slight crossing.

Long shot

16 Petronius (Bet now: $8.50) loves living with Barry Lockwood and is one of the main rivals. He was there to be beaten at Doomben a few weeks ago but found plenty under pressure to fend off Palladas and hang on to win the game. The end of the 1400m is a slight knock for him here, but with a potential soft finish on the speed, hard frame and form he appeals as one of the key threats.
